Andover Residents Offer Suggestions For Historic Mill District Makeover
Residents suggest more restaurants, a paved running trail, a movie theater and -- of course -- more parking.

ANDOVER, MA -- The town is seeking resident input for design guidelines for its redevelopment of the Historic Mill District. The district, which was approved by Town Meeting in 2015, includes nearly 100 acres between Main Street, Dundee Park, the Shawsheen River and the Whole Foods Grocery Store. The designation is aimed at promoting a "smart growth" strategy that includes mixed-use development near the town's transportation hub and what locals call one of its most difficult intersections.
Andover residents have already chimed in on social media with suggestions on how the town could improve traffic flow through the area.

Other suggestions are arguably more fun than a discussion about traffic flow, as residents offer thoughts on what kind of amenities should be included in the district:
In March, Andover awarded Gamble Associates of Cambridge the contract to develop the design guidelines. In addition to asking for input on social media, Gamble and the town have been holding public meetings to solicit resident input.
