Andover Schools Appoint New High School, South School Principals

ANDOVER, MA — Andover Public Schools Announced two new principal appointments, Thursday, among other appointments and hires. Andover High School Assistant Principal Caitlin Brown was appointed the new principal of the school, while Sanborn Elementary Assistant Principal Brenda Lee will take over as the principal of South Elementary School.

Brown takes over for Philip Conrad, who was hired as the superintendent of Bedford schools.

Lee will take the place of Tracy Crowley, who went on medical leave in January amid a labor dispute. In a letter, the school's staff asked for a new principal. The dispute has continued, with several transfers from the school provoking new concerns from the union, as reported by the Andover Townsman.

Both appointments will be effective July 1.

Brown has been a teacher and administrator for 15 years, according to the district announcement. She spent the last four years as the high school's assistant principal. Lee has been the asisstant principal at Sanborn for seven years, and has been with the district since 2011.

“In their current roles, both Caitlin and Brenda have shown strength and initiative and I am pleased they will have the opportunity to lead AHS and South Elementary respectively,” Superintendent Sheldon Berman said in a statement. “Their years of experience within the district will benefit our students, staff and community with a positive transition of leadership.”

Other appointments and new hires include:

• Kimberly Rabold was appointed the new Bancroft assistant principal.
• Christina Ryan joins the district as the assistant director of student services
• Steve Nembirkow joins the district as chief operations officer
• Cindy Button joins the district as transportation manager.
