Andover Select Board Approves $30 Million Aug. 2020 Budget

The second 1/12th budget, needed until town meeting, is $13 million larger than the July budget, due to pension costs.

ANDOVER, MA — The Andover select board approved the town's second 1/12th budget Monday, a $30 million August budget.

The August budget is $13 million larger than the July budget because the town's pension assessment is due in August, Finance Director Donna Walsh said.

Town Manager Andrew Flanagan said the budget number was reviewed with the school superintendent, School Committee chair, and chief operations officer, and they "determined the number is sufficient."

$7.4 million is devoted to the school budget.

Flanagan also explained that coronavirus costs are being charged to a separate account, which the town expects to cover with federal CARES Act funding.
