Andover Town Meeting Weighs In On Recreational Area Funding, Synthetic Fields

Residents voted on the issues at a Special Town Meeting earlier this month.

ANDOVER, MA — Over 1,200 residents turned out for a Special Town Meeting held June 16. They voted to approve one of the articles on the warrant and rejected others.

Town Meeting approved an article that authorized $5 million for Phase II of the Chandler Road Recreation Area, according to a statement from the town.

The project will include a new multi-use synthetic turf field, field lighting, a walking and running trail, a playground, and other recreational amenities at the 44-acre recreation area. The land, which is occasionally called the "Park Property," was acquired by the town in 2022.
