Threat Sent To Phillips Academy In Andover Originated In NH

Andover Police are patrolling the campus after school officials received an undisclosed threat Wednesday afternoon.

ANDOVER, MA -- Andover Police are investigating a threat that was emailed to Phillips Academy. on Wednesday afternoon.In an email to parents and students, school officials did not disclose the nature of the threat. In a statement Thursday afternoon, Andover Police said that the school was not specifically mentioned but the anonymous email contained screenshots of social media posts that made threats to harm others.

"While it is unclear whether the threat is actually directed toward Phillips Academy, we are taking this matter extremely seriously and are working closely with the Andover Police Department to ensure the safety of all those on campus," Headmaster John Palfrey wrote.

Andover police said they had determined the threats had been made from an account of someone in Pembroke, NH. Thursday was the last day of the spring term at Phillips Academy. On Thursday afternoon, the school said it was going to hold scheduled activities Thursday afternoon and evening, including its prom.
