Join the Shawsheen River Watershed Association (SRWA) for our annual Autumnal Equinox Celebration on Saturday, September 22, from 4 p.m to 7 p.m at Pomps Pond Recreation Area on Abbot Street in Andover. Learn about the astronomy of the equinox and how various cultures celebrate the beautiful harvest season. Bring your canoes and kayaks. There also will be some boats available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. Take a ride on the pond as the sunset at 6:41 p.m marks the official beginning of autumn. We will have a campfire so bring your own marshmallows and ingredients for S’Mores. Participants are encouraged to bring food favorites and soft drinks. Though the beach is closed to swimming, playground equipment is available and you can try something new. Participate in an informal tournament of the traditional Swedish lawn game called Kubb (pronounced Koob’). Admission is free and all are welcome. Contact Person: bob_otter@comcast.net
