Interested in helping at the Historical Society, but busy during the day?
The society needs volunteers to help with the projects involving our digital media. But, in recognizing people's busy schedules, the staff has come up with mini projects that can be worked on at any hour of the day from home or work.
There are three types of projects:

1. Video Shorts
Volunteers are needed to combine audio and visual elements in short digital films of 1-3 minutes in length. This can be something already part of the collection or a new YouTube type video such as a walking tour.

2. Blog Contributor
The blog, which is over two years old, provides a more casual voice for the historical society. Volunteers can come in to chose one of the many physical objects or photographs in the collection, then write 3 paragraphs to describe it on the blog. The actual blogging can be done from home.
3. Online Exhibits
Volunteers can chose an object to research and create a storyboard for a virtual exhibit. An example is the children's clothing exhibit which their college interns are currently working on.
Training for these all the mini projects is one-on-one with a staff member. After the initial orientation, most of the contact is through email. Optional monthly meetings also provide an opportunity to share ideas and progress with fellow volunteers.
Interested persons can attend the next informational meeting on Thursday April 21 at 7 p.m. or can contact Carrie Midura at 978-475-2236 or cmidura@andoverhistorical.org.
