Visit the Andover History Society as part of Andover Reads. Relics of World War II will be on display during this open house event. View photos, memorabilia, propaganda and more of the World War II era. This one time exhibition will feature a small collection of WWII era objects and archival materials that demonstrate Andover's involvement on the home front and abroad. Most striking, a gas mask and canvas carrying bag along with many photos reveal the reality of warfare.
Also on display, a WWII collection owned by Doug Culver of WWII Consulting. Doug provides identification for museums, historical societies, theater productions, and other organizations, as well as private individuals. Over the past 35 years, Doug has studied the history of WWII, including research on uniforms, weapons and equipment of the era. His
personal collection of WWII artifacts is a traveling educational exhibit. For more than 25 years, Doug has presented programs using this exhibit at schools, veterans’ organizations, and community events. Doug's hands-on collection will allow visitors to feel and try-on WWII artifacts. Visit with Doug personally after 1 p.m.
Visitors are welcome to share their story and add to Andover's History Society's 20th century collection. This open house event is free and open to the public
