Fish On! Andover 2012
Memorial Hall Library and the Friends of the Library will kick off their 13th annual month-long series of fishing programs in February.
Fish On! Andover 2012 runs on Tuesday evenings from Feb. 7 through Feb. 28. The programs begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Each week features fishing movies at 6 p.m., door prizes, and a room filled with free fishing catalogs, magazines, and maps. Fish On! will feature presentations by the following fishing experts on Tuesday evenings in February:
The Hatch and Body Language of Trout” on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
Get ready to take notes on this very informative and fun way of looking at fly fishing techniques & fly selection. Interactive & great for all ages and skill levels. Presented by Marla Blair, author and fly fishing guide and instructor. Marla is the author of “Positive Fly Fishing” published by Lyons Press.

“Saltwater Fly Fishing for Striped Bass” on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
Striped bass offer exciting saltwater fly fishing opportunities from boat and shore along the Essex County coastline with its many rock-lined sections, estuaries, and beaches. Learn the basics of techniques, tackle, and strategies from Capt. Dave Rimmer, an experienced saltwater fisherman and local guide.

“Tuna!” on Feb. 21 at 7:00 pm
Capt. Nat Moody and Capt. Derek Spingler of First Light Anglers in Rowley, MA will discuss techniques on how to catch school sized and giant bluefin tuna in the water around Cape Ann including Mass. Bay and the Gulf of Maine.
“Local Trout Fishing—Still Waters and Streams” on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
Capt. Al Montello will speak on the benefits of fly fishing at our local trout fisheries and share the best approach for fishing trout waters under any conditions.

Chinese Paper Cutting Workshop —Sunday, Feb. 5 from 2-4 p.m.
Welcome the Year of the Dragon! Learn about this ancient Chinese folk art. Drop in and stay five minutes, or fifty five. Families welcome (ages 8-108). Please bring a pair of scissors. Taught by Leah Russell.
Boston Jazz Voices -- Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m.
Celebrate love in all its many splendors through the versatility and power of the human voice - a cappella! These talented musicians capture your hearts with their unique combination of old sounds and contemporary vocal jazz idiom.
MHL Monday Movie —Monday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. Attend the movie, and enter to win the DVD after watching it.
