First I want to ask you, do you understand what meditation really is.? Basically it is simply focusing on one thing.
It could be focusing on your breath, counting the breath or directing the breath from different areas( ex. chest, upper abdomen., lower abdomen or even through the crown chakra located on the top of the head.)
It could also be a guided form of meditation where someone has you imagine a specific scene or event and guides you through the scene or event with some specific outcome or connection.
On our own it is frequently difficult to reach the state where our mind is quiet or empty of thoughts so we could focus on one thing. In our society we have become big thinkers, the mind is constantly busy. It is therefore difficult to turn this off.
I have 2 suggestions to quiet the mind and make it ready to meditate.
First is to shift our energy from our head into our lower body. The simplest way to do this is what we call Dahn Jon tapping. Make light fists and tap the lower abdomen for about 5 minutes. Focus on the tapping points.
Second is to do what we call" Brain Wave Vibration." Simply wave the head from side to side, keeping the neck soft and the motion relaxed. This exercise helps to slow down the brain waves.
You can combine these two activities, tapping the abdomen and waving the head to produce the desired result. I recommend doing this combination for 5-10 minutes and then you should be ready to enjoy a meditation of your choice.
