Heading into the Holidays with MHL

The library is offering several programs to help you prepare for the season.

The holiday season is fast approaching.  Memorial Hall Library is offering several exciting programs to help you prepare for or celebrate the holidays.  You’ll find something for everyone on your holiday gift lists including seasonal floral displays, hand-cut silhouette portraits, books, and crafts.  Let take some of the stress out of the holidays.

“Seasonal Arrangements Demonstrations and Sale” on Saturday, November 19 from 10am-3pm.  Learn how to create and maintain seasonal floral arrangements through the holiday season.  Arrangements will be available for sale, and proceeds benefit the Friends of Memorial Hall Library and Spade and Trowel Garden Club.  "Adaptable Arrangements: Extending Autumn into Holiday Designs" at 11am by Susan DeLarm-Sandman.  "Magic Transformations: How to Turn Your Thanksgiving Centerpiece into a Christmas/Holiday Centerpiece" at 1pm by Belva Hopkins.

Silhouette Artist on December 2 and 3 from 9:30am-4pm by appointment.  Don’t miss your opportunity to have one of New England’s only silhouette artists cut a silhouette of your child, grandchild, or even yourself.  Jean Comerford of Portraits in Silhouette will return to the library to hand-cut silhouette portraits.  Silhouettes are $30 each and only take ten minutes.  Schedule appointments by calling Emily Classon at 978-623-8401, x49 or emailing eclasson@mhl.org.  This program is a fundraiser for the Friends of Memorial Hall Library.

Special Holiday Book Sale on December 2 and 3.  Join the Friends of Memorial Hall Library for a holiday book sale featuring great gift ideas including exceptional children’s books, like-new fiction and nonfiction, book sets, and more.  The book sale hours will be Friday, December 2 from 9am-4:30pm and Saturday, December 3 from 9am-3pm.

Iris Folding Workshop on Tuesday, December 6 at 7pm.  Iris folding is a fun and easy paper folding technique that can be used on greeting cards, scrapbook pages, or framed and hung on a wall. Scraps of paper, ribbon, origami paper, or even wrapping paper can be used to create these lovely and intriguing designs.  Paper crafter Diane Giarrusso will share how to create a seasonal project in this hands-on workshop.  Space is limited.  Register at www.mhl.org/eventcalendar or call 978-623-8401 x31.
