How To Know When Blasting Will Happen In Andover

Blasting for a housing development could begin as early as Wednesday. Get a notified when the blasting begins.

ANDOVER, MA -- A housing development under construction on Cider Hill Way in Andover will require blasting that could last for up to 10 days. And the blasting could begin as soon as Wednesday. To help nearby residents prepare, the town is offering text and email alerts notifying recipients when blasting begins.

To sign up for alerts, go to http://andoverma.gov/list.aspx and scroll down to "Cider Hill Way Blasting Notifications," where you can sign up for text and email alerts.

Cider Hill Way is off Sunset Rock Road in south Andover. Workers are building two houses on a lot that was approved for a three-house subdivision in 2004. Blasting could last for up to 10 days and there could be as many as three blasts each day. Blasting will be done between 8 am and 4 pm. There will be three horn blasts five minutes before the blast, and two horn blasts immediately before the blast.

Last week Andover Fire Chief Mike Mansfield held a meeting for residents living near the development to update them on the blasting work. That meeting followed a Dec. 27 mailing from the town to 40 homes near the construction site.
