Joyce Carol Oates called Ellroy “the American Dostoevsky” of crime writing. His books "are masterclasses in modern crime writing, making him not only one of the finest hardboiled writers of his generation, but one of the great literary chroniclers of Los Angeles," according to the bookstore.

His latest novel, "Red Sheet," is a Cold War story that follows an investigating officer of a communist probe in 1962. You can pre-purchase a copy of the book through Andover Bookstore.
