Meet Harriet Beecher Stowe and Some of Andover's Past Authors as Part of March Write-In
Harriet Beecher Stowe and four Andover authors from the past as they are brought to life by actresses during an afternoon of living history!
Harriet Beecher Stowe returns to Andover!
Well... sort of! On Saturday, March 21, five local actresses will bring five local authors back to life for an afternoon of living history at the Historical Society. Here’s your opportunity to meet:
Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin
Elizabeth Stuart Phelps, author of The Gates Ajar
Plus 17th century poet and Governor’s wife Anne Bradstreet; notable Andover character and author Bessie Goldsmith; and 16 year old Abby Locke who kept a local diary for more than two years here in Andover following the Civil War.
30 minute guided tours begin at 1pm and continue until 4pm. Reserve your tickets online or call the Historical Society (978.475.2236) for more info. Free for students, $5 for Society members, and $7 for non-members.

The Andover Historical Society invites you to our reading and writing events in March with a special focus on female authors in honor of Women’s History Month. The program series highlights local writers from both Andover’s history and the broader contemporary society. Events will appeal to a range of ages and participation levels.
