Obituary: Donald D. Smith, Former Principal Owner of Lite-World

Donald D. Smith, age 72, of Andover, died peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Donald was born in Syracuse, NY on October 9,1942, to the late Thomas C. Sr. and Eunice (Bostwick) Smith. He was brother to the late Thomas C. Smith, Jr.

He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy.

Don was formerly a principal owner of Lite-World in South Boston, MA, and most recently worked at Vanguard Lighting in Woburn, MA, until his recent retirement. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and cooking.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary M. (Steger) Smith of Andover, MA; his son Michael C. Smith and his wife Lori of Melrose, MA; his daughter Christina M. Smith-Gajadhar and her husband Allan of Arlington, VA; and his five grandchildren - Kateri, Sophie, Haley, Ian, and Alexander. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and James Herscha; and several nieces and nephews from Syracuse, NY.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 24, from 4-8 PM at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence Street in Andover.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 25 at 11 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover, MA. Burial will follow in West Parish Cemetery also in Andover.
