The 19-year-old was captured after multiple police agencies assisted in finding him Sunday morning.

ANDOVER, MA — A 19-year-old Lowell man was arrested after a short search for what police said was attempting to break into an ATM Sunday morning. Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury and state police assisted in the search of Juan Antonetty Mejias, who was captured after a foot pursuit.

Police said Mejias tried to smash into an ATM in a convenience store on Lowell Road near the Tewksbury line. Going on what they said was a "good description of the suspect and his direction of flight," police later found him running through someone's property on Lowell Street, they said.

Mejias was charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony and malicious destruction of property. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Lawrence District Court.
