Road Closure Coming Up Due To Bridge Project In Andover

Detours are expected to be in place for about eight months.

ANDOVER, MA — The MBTA will close Burnham Road in both directions at the railroad bridge beginning in late March, the town said.

The closure is due to a preservation and maintenance project on the Haverhill Line.

A detour will be in place re-routing traffic via York Street, Haverhill Street, Enmore Street, and Dufton Road.

The project is expected to continue for about eight months.

According to the MBTA, the work will include bearing seat reconstruction, masonry repointing, and steel cleaning and painting to help preserve the bridge and extend its useful life.
