Police Retract Report: Woman Didn't Die After Fall

An Andover woman initially said to be the second person to die after Thursday's gas explosions is still alive.

ANDOVER, MA -- Andover Police retracted a report that a woman had died and become the second fatality of the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. Andover Police spokesperson John Guilfoil called the WCVB, which first reported this story, to say "There was incorrect information relayed to officials."

The woman's condition, identity and other details were not released by Guilfoil.

Earlier on Monday night, police said an Andover woman was found dead in her home and had likely died as a result of a fall down the basement stairs of her Shawsheen Road home Sunday. On Thursday, 18-year-old Leonel Rondon of Lawrence was killed when the chimney of a Chickering Road house toppled onto the car he was sitting in next to the house.
