Andover Crash: 1 Dead After 5-Car Collision On I-495
A 59-year-old woman was killed in a chain-reaction crash on I-495 Tuesday morning.

ANDOVER, MA – One driver is dead following a five-car chain-reaction crash on I-495 in Andover, according to state police. The collision was reported around 6:40 a.m. just before I-93 on the southbound side. Police said a 2010 Honda CRV struck a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup from behind, pushing it into a 2003 Toyota 4Runner, which ran into a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The Impala then crashed into a 2012 Mazda 3.
The driver and sole occupant of the Honda, a 59-year-old woman from Haverhill, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified Tuesday afternoon as Maureen Bonnell.
The driver of the GMC, a 57-year-old man from South Berwick, ME, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The other three drivers were uninjured.

Investigators believe the Honda crashed into the GMC when traffic was nearing a standstill during the morning commute. The right two lanes were closed Tuesday morning until about 9 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
