Soccer Teams Kick In Help For People Without Gas On Thanksgiving

The Andover High School girls varsity and JV soccer teams are working with Temple Emanuel to offer dinners to people who won't have gas.

ANDOVER, MA -- With Columbia Gas of Massachusetts admitting last week that it will be December 19 before some of the thousands of people still without gas service will be able to heat and cook in their homes, holiday plans are being thrown into flux across the Merrimack Valley. Enter the Andover High School girl's varsity and junior varsity soccer teams with an offer to help.

The teams have partnered with Temple Emanuel in Andover to offer free Thanksgving meals at no cost to people still dealing with the fallout of last month's gas explosions in Lawrence, Andover and North Andover. The temple is letting the teams use their kitchen facilities to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and corn. Meals can be picked up between 11 am and 1 pm on Thanksgiving.

For more information, or to reserve a meal, contact Don Sheldon at DShel1@aol.com and write “Turkey” in the memo. Please include your name, telephone number and number of people you are having for dinner. We will get back to you with more details.
