Spring into Leagues For Little Athletes

With spring right around the corner, and snow finally melting away, it’s time to think about spring sports leagues for kids! Andover DCS runs two extremely popular programs for kids ages 4-6 in the spring time, Sandlot T-ball League and Kickin’ Kids Soccer League!

Undoubtedly two of the most popular kids programs with DCS, Sandlot T-ball and Kickin’ Kids Soccer leagues focus on teaching fundamental skills and learning team-work with practices and games all in one session. Kids are separated onto teams by DCS prior to the start of the league and schedules and rosters are emailed out to guardians. Game times vary weekly allowing for all teams to play in a round robin format!

Sandlot T-ball League includes instruction for boys and girls just starting out in baseball. Players will be taught how to throw, catch, and hit the ball each week during a 30 minute practice and then will tee off in games in the remaining 30 minutes of the program. Every player will bat and every player will play the field in each inning. The games begin Thursday, April 16th, but the registration deadline is April 10th. Players should report during their scheduled times to Shawsheen School Fields with a personal, size appropriate glove. Games are either at 4:00 or 5:30 pm and vary weekly.

Kickin’ Kids Soccer League is an introductory league for kids ages 4-6 giving instruction on how to pass, shoot, dribble, and play together as a team! Kids will learn during a 30 minute practice and then play in a 5-vs-5 format, allowing for plenty of participation during game play. The games begin on Saturday, May 2nd, however, the registration deadline for this popular program is April 24th. Games are played at Recreation Park at either 9:00 am or 10:30 am, and game times vary by week.
