State Trooper Allegedly Drunk in Bad North Andover Crash

Dale Jenkins was suspended.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was drunk when he crashed on Route 114 in North Andover early Saturday, severely injuring a passenger, police said.

Dale Jenkins was suspended after the alleged incident.

The identity of the male passenger was not immediately released.

Jenkins was charged with OUI and carrying a gun while drunk. Police said he was driving his own car and had his own handgun inside.

State Police said they will conduct a review to determine if Jenkins can return to duty as his case progresses. Jenkins, a member of the gang unit, has been with State Police for 14 years.

"State Police condemn all instances of impaired operation," Col. Timothy Allen said in a statement.
