Summer programs at SHED Children's Campus are off to an exciting start after beginning on Monday July 7th. The children and youth have been actively exploring our outdoor spaces and places through an array of open-ended activities and programs.
Junior Adventures (children entering pre-k or kindergarten) were "Young Explorers" last week in which they explored our campus and began to familiarize themselves with fellow children and educators. The theme for this week is "Sand and Water". The children will be creating moon sand and understanding the differences between lakes and oceans.
Summer Adventures (children entering grades 1-5) have been enjoying numerous 'clubs' which involve cooking, outdoor play, fairy houses, comic books, and science. On Thursday July 17th, the children will be traveling Wingearsheek Beach in Gloucester, MA, followed by historic Salem, MA on the 24th.
Team Adventure (youth entering grades 6-9) experienced an international exchange program during the first week of camp. Team Adventure welcomed 15 students from China from July 7th-July 11th. The group explored Faneuil Hall in Boston, toured MIT and Harvard, and traveled to Jordan's IMAX in Reading, MA. This week Team Adventure will visit Field of Dreams in Salem, NH, and travel with Summer Adventures to Wingaersheek Beach.
