Suspended Andover Attorney Sentenced To Prison For Tax Fraud

ANDOVER, MA — A former Andover attorney was sentenced to two years in prison for tax fraud, Wednesday. In May, Daniel P. Gibson, 62, was convicted on two counts of tax fraud and one count of conspiring to defraud the IRS. U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani sentenced Gibson to 24 months in prison, two years of supervised release, and restitution.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, at trial, evidence showed that Gibson and his accountant conspired to underreport $3.7 million in income in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2009. Gibson avoided taxes of more than $875,000, they said.
