Teen Killed After Being Hit By MBTA Train In Essex County

The MBTA Police confirmed that a male was hit and killed by an MBTA Commuter Rail train at about 7:25 pm Tuesday night.

ANDOVER, MA -- A male was hit and killed by an MBTA Commuter rail train in Andover. The Eagle-Tribune is reporting the victim is an unidentified Andover teen.

The accident occurred on the Andover Street crossing of the MBTA commuter rail train tracks. According to a statement issued by the MBTA Transit Police, the man was hit by an outbound train while trespassing on MBTA tracks.

The man's identity was not released. Foul play is not suspected, the MBTA Transit Police said. The incident was causing delays along the Haverhill line, which runs out of North Station in Boston.

Several Transit Police units responded along with Andover Fire and EMS, responded to the radio call. Transit Police Detectives and the Essex County District Attorney's Office were continuing to investigate the incident Tuesday night.
