Two Men Arrested On Firearms Charges In Andover

A vehicle search during a traffic stop turned up a gun with a defaced serial number.

ANDOVER, MA -- State police arrested two men on firearms charges during a traffic stop on Route 125 early Saturday morning. Police arrested Marcos Silveira, 23, of Brockton and Erikson Vieira, 31, of Dorchester, after Trooper Daniel Purtell stopped the Infiniti Q50 the men were in for motor vehicle violations. During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a Kahr CW 45 loaded firearm with a defaced serial number was located.

Silveira was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a firearm with a defaced serial number, registration not in possession, window obstruction, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, and failure to dim headlights. Vieira was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a firearm with a defaced serial number, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

The two men were scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning. State Police did not disclose any additional information.
