Bicyclist, Pedestrian Collide Near Buzzell Field

A bicyclist and a pedestrian collided Friday evening near the intersection of the Minuteman bike path and the trail to Buzzell Field, according to police.

The male bicyclist told police when he was approaching the female pedestrian and three of her friends from behind, he called out that he was going to pass them before moving into the left lane. He said the woman “lunged” into the left lane in front of him at the last second, and he attempted to slow down but was unable to avoid the collision. He said he tended to the her injury, a laceration to her head, as best he could before emergency personnel arrived. A witness confirmed his account, police said.

The woman and her friends were unable to give their account immediately due to a language barrier. The woman was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.
