• Polus Center receives $500K for school paraprofessional training (atholdailynews.com) — A new free paraprofessional training program based at the Polus Center in Athol is now enrolling local residents for a six‑week course starting November 2. Funded by a $500,000 state workforce grant, the mostly online program prepares adults over 18 for teacher aide and special education assistant jobs, including mentorship and interview support, with strong ties to the Narragansett school district and Fitchburg State.
   

• Nancy J. Anderson (atholdailynews.com) — Athol residents are mourning Nancy J. (Primeau) Anderson, 63, of Park Street, who died September 26 at Athol Hospital and once worked in food services at Athol Elementary Schools. Family and friends can honor her at a celebration of life on October 10 at Crossroads Church in Orange, with donations suggested to the church’s youth ministry.
