ATTLEBORO, MA —Attleboro residents will have a chance to smash their pumpkins for a good cause as a unique fall event comes to the city.
On Sunday, Nov. 8, the city's Sustainability Commission and Rubbish and Recycling Department will host a pumpkin smash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Highland Park parking lot, 104 Mechanic St.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own pumpkins and get ready to smash them while helping the environment.
While smashing pumpkins may be a fun way to relieve stress, the event also serves a greater purpose.
By keeping pumpkins out of landfills and turning them into nutrient-rich compost, the event aims to promote healthier soil and reduce waste, according to a Facebook post from the city
Officials also hope the event will bring the community together.
Attendees are reminded that pumpkins must be free of paint, glitter and candles.
If you have a leftover Halloween pumpkin, this event offers a fun and environmentally friendly way to put it to good use.
