Deported Attleboro Man Arrested After Re-entering: Feds

Fernando Cortez Cuevas, a Mexican citizen, could be deported again.

ATTLEBORO, MA — An Attleboro man who was deported once by federal authorities was recently arrested again in Rhode Island after illegally re-entering, according to the Rhode Island U.S. Attorney. Fernando Cortez Cuevas, 40, is a Mexican citizen. He was deported in 2007 after being convicted of drug and obstruction charges, Acting U.S. Attorney Stephen Dambruch said.

Cuevas was arrested in Rhode Island last month on another obstruction charge. He was indicted on that charge, Dambruch announced this week. An indictment means a grand jury determined a trial is warranted in the case. Cuevas could be deported again if he is convicted.
