Drunk Attleboro Man Crashes Into Police Cruiser: Authorities
Jeremiah Garrett-Levine, 28, of Attleboro, was charged with a host of crimes.
NEWBURYPORT, MA — An Attleboro man was drunk when he crashed into a police cruiser in Newburyport early Sunday. Jeremiah Garrett-Levine, 28, was charged with a host of crimes. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 12:45 a.m. at a rotary near Merrimack Street. Police said Garrett-Levine was looking at his cell phone for directions, distracting him from the road. Garrett-Levine was driving a black sedan over the speed limit and failed to properly yield to the officer, slamming into the cruiser's passenger side, police said. Garrett-Levine was charged with:
- OUI-liquor
- Reckless driving
- Speeding
- Failure to yield
He will be arraigned Monday in Newburyport District Court.
