Joe Andruzzi Foundation Raises More Than $30,000 Through 2016 NYC Half Marathon

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF), an organization committed to providing help and hope for cancer patients and their families by contributing financial and emotional support, is pleased to announce that its NYC Half Marathon team has raised more than $30,000. The funds raised allow the Foundation to provide grants to cancer patients and families to help with everyday expenses, including rent and mortgage payments, utility bills and more.

On Sunday, March 20th, Team JAF charity runners hit the streets of New York, culminating months of focused training and fundraising. For the first time, Team JAF also fielded awareness runners, 17 in all, to don JAF singlets during the race to help spread JAF’s mission throughout the Greater New York area.

“I grew up in Staten Island, so the city of New York has always been a special place for our foundation,” said Joe Andruzzi, President of JAF. “The perseverance and determination of our runners is inspiring, and we couldn’t possibly be prouder of their work in the name of our Foundation’s mission. Whether a veteran charity runner, a newcomer, or an ambassador, all of our runners had the same goal and none of this would be possible without them.”

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, founded in 2008, is committed to providing help, hope, and a reason to smile for cancer patients and their families by contributing financial and emotional support when it is needed most, as well as funding pediatric brain cancer research. Joe Andruzzi, a former three-time Super Bowl winning offensive guard with the New England Patriots, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt’s lymphoma in 2007 and was treated at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is Joe and his wife Jen’s second philanthropic effort; in 2003, they started the C.J. Buckley Brain Cancer Research Fund at Boston Children’s Hospital in memory of C.J. Buckley, a young man with an inoperable brain tumor who touched their hearts before losing his battle in 2002.
