Local Man Charged with 5th OUI

Michael Hackett, 47, of Taunton, was arrested in Wareham Wednesday.

A Taunton man whose driver’s license is revoked was charged with his fifth OUI after police said they found several open containers of alcohol in a vehicle he wasn’t supposed to be driving.

Michael Hackett, 47, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Wareham on Glenn Charlie Road. Police said a trooper stopped Hackett’s 2004 Nissan Xterra at about 4:30 p.m. for a violation and found several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Hackett was charged with:

  • OUI (liquor), fifth offense
  • Possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle
  • Negligent driving
  • Operating a vehicle with a revoked license
  • Speeding

His bail was set at $1,040 pending an arraignment.
