Obituary: Gertrude C. (Dionne) Roy

Mrs. Gertrude Roy was the wife of the late Dr. Eugene Roy.

Gertrude C. (Dionne) Roy, 91, of South Main Street, Attleboro, died Sunday, at RI Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dr. Eugene Roy MD.

She was born in New Bedford , a daughter of the late Albert and Eva B. (Vincent) Dionne. Gertrude was a homemaker. She has lived in Attleboro since 1946 coming from West Virginia and Rehoboth. She was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph Church, now the St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Gertrude enjoyed playing golf, painting, and doing crosswords, many years ago she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She also liked going looking at antiques.

Mrs. Roy is survived by a son Edward Roy of Rehoboth, four daughters Elaine Danforth of Freeport, Maine, Judith Bisceglia of Boxford, MA, Dr. Janet Welles of Coral Springs, Florida, Marcia Divver of North Attleboro.

Mrs. Roy was the grandmother of Angela Granger, Dana Tremblay, Justin Tremblay, Benjamin Bisceglia, Aaron Bisceglia, Daniel Bisceglia, Emily Welles.
She was also the great grandmother of nine, and the great -great grandmother of three. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was the sister of the late Richard Dionne, the late Vincent Dionne, the late Vivian Poole, and the late Jeannette Gorman.

Her funeral will be held, Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., from the FOLEY –HATHAWAY Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Church, 71 Linden St. Attleboro, burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours Wednesday from 5–8 p.m.
