Joseph Vicaire, 88, of Captain Courtois Drive, Attleboro, died Saturday, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Marsha (Dudley) Vicaire.

Mr. Vicaire was born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada, a son of the late Bill and Bella (Capelin) Vicaire. Joseph went to work at age 14, in a lumber camp, and did that for 14 years. He also worked at a couple of foundries, for more than 36 years. Upon retiring worked in a campground until 2009. He liked doing woodworking, and also loved animals. He has lived in Attleboro for more than 15 years coming from Norton. Joseph had been a square dancer for many years.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter Diana Vicaire of Milford., a step son Wayne Dudley of East Falmouth, a brother William Vicaire of Niagra Falls, N.Y., two sisters Mary Ann Butler of Whitinsville, Alma Jerome of Maria, Quebec, Canada. He was the grandfather of Joseph Tropeano, and Crystal Bourcier. Mr. Vicaire was the great grandfather of six, and he was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held, Friday, at 10 a.m., in the Foley – Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, Massachusetts, burial will follow in Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours, Thursday, from 4-7 p.m.
