Obituary: Ruth Joan Swistak

Mrs. Ruth Joan Swistak was a former accountant at the Balfour Company.

Ruth Joan Swistak, 79, of Brook Haven Estates in Attleboro died Friday, June 7, 2013 in Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph James Swistak Jr.

Born January 25, 1934 in North Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late E. Linwood and Ruth (Smith) Wise.

Ruth was a graduate of North Attleboro High School and attended college, earning credits towards an accounting degree.

She worked as an accountant for the Balfour Company for many years and later the Robert Allen Co. before retiring.

As a young girl, she was a proud member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and later as an adult of the Attleboro Area Gold Digger's group.

Ruth loved spending time with her family and was proud to have arranged the first visit to Walt Disney World for her great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons: Daniel J. and David K. Swistak; two grandchilren: Brandon J. and Nicole T. Swistak; and six great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Laneisha, Lenny, Jordon, Mark and Kaylor.

She was sister of the late Faith Krauskop and Connie Maddox.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 16 from 11a.m.-1 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery & Arboretum, Attleboro Falls on Monday, June 17 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
