ATTLEBORO, MA, February 12, 2014 – The color red dominated on Friday, February 7th as Sturdy Memorial staffers participated in The American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day to promote awareness of the fact that heart disease is the number one cause of death in women in America.  Some of those who participated are pictured.  “Go Red” pins were distributed and staff enjoyed healthy “red” treats.

Go Red Day was held in conjunction with Sturdy Memorial Hospital’s Heart Health Fair, which offered stroke and arterial foot screenings, risk factor assessments, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol and glucose screenings, free of charge. The Heart Health Fair experienced another successful year with 55 people receiving cholesterol and glucose screenings, and 48 people having arterial screenings. Many more attended the event, receiving blood pressure screenings, enjoying heart healthy food, and learning valuable information about proper exercise and nutrition from Sturdy’s Exercise Physiologists and Registered Dieticians.
