Live performance by Suzie Brown and Scot Sax / Jesse Terry / Kalle Mattson at the Red Room @ Cafe 939!

Suzie Brown is a cardiologist turned singer-songwriter with a talent for unforgettable melodies and evocative lyrics. After writing her first song five years ago, she has been named a finalist in the Mountain Stage New Song contest and a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition, among other accolades, and her music has been featured at Starbucks, the Gap, and Anthropologie. Brown is joined by Grammy Award–winning multi-instrumentalist Scot Sax. The duo have just finished an album together, due out in September.

Singer-songwriter Jesse Terry uses his music to tell tales of travel, homecoming, sorrow, and redemption. His sound is fresh and melodic, and his music reflects a variety of influences from Nashville to Laurel Canyon. Terry’s songs would fit on a playlist with the likes of Josh Ritter, Jackson Browne, Ryan Adams, and Neil Young. He has shared the stage with Gregory Alan Isakov, Bear’s Den, and Guster, and was recently included on Birdstone Records’ Independent Celebration, Vol. 1 along with songs from Ben Taylor, Rachael Yamagata, and Grant-Lee Phillips.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Kalle Mattson is a singer-songwriter. His most recent album, Someday, the Moon Will Be Gold, was nominated for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize and was released with tours of Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. This album follows up two critically acclaimed, full-length albums; an EP; and two viral music videos: “Water Falls” (over 250,000 views) and “Thick as Thieves” (over 1,000,000 views).
