Berklee Global Jazz Summit

Friday / April 1, 2016 / 8:00 p.m. Berklee Performance Center 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA, 02115, United States

Danilo Pérez, Grammy Award–winning pianist and artistic director of the Berklee Globe Jazz Institute (BGJI), will lead students, faculty, and guest artist Danny Rivera in this very special annual Global Jazz Summit. Rivera, considered the national voice of Puerto Rico, has been an internationally acclaimed artist since he started his career in 1968. He has recorded over 70 albums and performed all around the world.

The summit will also showcase BGJI faculty and jazz masters Terri Lyne Carrington and John Patitucci as well as students from the undergraduate program and, this year for the first time, from the contemporary performance graduate program (global jazz concentration).

The BGJI is designed to help instrumentalists and vocalists with unique talent and wide-ranging musical interests achieve their artistic goals through an experiential and interdisciplinary approach. Developing artists who seek to evolve to the highest levels—as both musicians and human beings—find a true home in the BGJI environment, which provides both the support and range of challenges necessary for sustained creative growth.
