Berklee Indie Label‘s Launch Party featuring Jesca Hoop

Coming up on October 17, Berklee launches an independent record label, Berklee Internet Radio Cooperative Records – or, birnCORE, with a launch party by the UK-based “slyly inventive,” “lyrical wizard” singer-songwriter Jesca Hoop at the Red Room @ Cafe 939.

birnCORE records some of today’s best independent artists who visit Berklee’s campus performance facilities, from the Red Room at Cafe 939 to the college’s state-of-the-art internet radio studio, the BiRN. Student engineers mix the albums to the artists’ specs, and the LPs are sold at a 50/50 revenue split for about $5.

Because of birnCORE’s unique model, the launch party will not only be a live show, it will also be a recording session for Hoops’ birnCORE LP. That same day, birnCORE will release Sing to Me – Live in Boston by rising star Brooke Waggoner, who performed at Berklee earlier this year.

Berklee’s new indie label gives students real-life record making experience with album credits and on-the-job training. Students interested in music business can act as A&R and marketing execs, while music production and engineering students can earn album credits as mixing and recording engineers. Harnessing the impressive performances already happening on-campus, birnCORE's model is all about simplicity.

So come by this unique launch party on Thursday, October 17 at 8pm at the Red Room @ Cafe 939.  Price is $8 in advance and $10 day of show.
