(Boston, MA) – July 19, 2016 – Boston Comic Con 2016, which takes place August 12 to August 14, 2016 at the Seaport World Trade Center, launches CosSpace – a dedicated, self-contained area for all things cosplay. Combined with the Kid’s Cosplay Contest, the extensive Cosplay guest list and the famed annual Costume Contest, Boston Comic Con is taking cosplay to a whole new level, making it the place to be for all cosplayers. Cosplay (costume play) is the activity of dressing up in costume as a fictional character from a comic book, movie or television show.

"Cosplay at Boston Comic Con has gotten bigger and more eye popping over the past nine years,” said Pat Covey, Boston Comic Con cosplay impresario overseeing the show’s Cosplay activities. “This year, we are expecting to see thousands of cosplayers, creative costumes and our most spectacular cosplay contest ever! From Friday at opening of the show until the end of the contest on Sunday, expect to see all your favorite characters and more come to life!"

The annual Boston Comic Con Costume Contest will take place on Sunday, August 14 at the Plaza Ballroom of the Seaport Hotel. Almost $5,000 in prizes, the most in the history of the contest, will be awarded to the following category winners: Best in Show, Runner-up, Best Masters, Best Journeyman, Best Novice, Best Your, Best Walk-on and Runner-up Walk-on. The special Kid’s Cosplay Contest will take place on Friday, August 12 as part of the Family Friday programming. Participating kids will show off their costume for a chance to win some great prizes.
