Brickyard VFX Makes the Move to Boston’s South End

BOSTON … Visual effects wizards Brickyard VFX have made the move from their previous Newbury Street location, home for the past 16 years, to 180 Lincoln Street, according to Brickyard VFX co-owner Dave Waller.

The move expands the creative space for new hires and expands the shop from 3750 square feet to over 8000 square feet, according to Waller.

Why the move? Waller explains that “We didn’t want to leave, but couldn’t find a space with room to grow in Back Bay.”

Brickyard, who recently delivered work completed for Columbia Sportswear, a campaign for Bank of America and another for Cheetos, will have new space that will include room for a shooting studio, expansion of their Computer Graphics division, a dedicated virtual color grading suite and a bar. Their new server room has been engineered to be as green as possible by using cool outside air in the temperate months and reusing the heat produced by the servers.

Much of the interior has been reused from old local buildings to be as green as possible. The bar is a magnificent oak and mahogany bar from the 1890s salvaged from Charlie’s on Newbury Street, and a dozen industrial windows were salvaged from the Danker parking garage a few doors down from their old location. “We’re decorating with lots of famous signs from Boston’s past including the historic 1914 Exeter Street Theatre sign”, Waller adds.
