Bridge Construction To Shut Down Lanes

Before Somerville becomes extra MBTA accessible, drivers and pedestrians may find themselves mildly inconvenienced.

As Somerville residents likely anticipated, the construction necessary to implement The Green Line Extension Project (GLX) will mandate periodic lane and sidewalk closures. A statement from city officials advises regular traverses to expect narrower roads throughout the upcoming months.

Work on the Broadway Bridge in Ball Square commenced earlier this week, consequently blocking off the southbound side of the street. Two-way traffic will continue while the bridge undergoes renovation, albeit presumably more slowly than usual. The city encourages caution and mindfulness of signs and detours, especially during rush hour and similarly busy times of day.
