The American Revolution has been contested since its very beginning. During the Revolution, contemporaries looking to understand what independence meant had to shift through disinformation and journalism rife with as many opinions as today. In the war's aftermath, narratives of the Revolution went through continuous reinterpretations in response to political and social changes. From the Civil War to the Cold War and newsrooms to Hollywood, Americans looked to the Revolutionary era to debate and define what it meant to be an American, with often divisive results. Now, during the 250th anniversary of the Revolution, Jordan Taylor and Michael Hattem will examine commentary in Revolutionary-era newspapers and broadsides, consider how understanding of American independence has changed over time, and reflect on how the public sees the nation’s founding today.

Many of us give only a moment’s thought about the environment when considering the War of Independence: the slope of Breed’s Hill, the ice-choked Delaware River, and diseases such as smallpox. But what might we gain by connecting biology, ecology, and geology to the thinking and actions of soldiers and civilians? Rebels and British soldiers acquired and used energy in the form of food, fuel, and work animals, which shaped people’s lives, the course of the war, and the direction of environmental change. Join us as David Hsiung, in conversation with Joyce Chaplin, discusses the intricate and often surprising ways in which the natural environment and the war changed each other.

MA Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell and Jaylen Brown’s The 7uice Foundation to Be Honored Together at Trinity Boston Connects’ Gala

BOSTON, MA — April 13, 2026— Trinity Boston Connects (TBC), a nonprofit organization serving Boston’s youth through year-round racial equity, restorative justice, and healing-centered programming, will host its 19th Annual Bostonians for Youth Gala on June 4, 2026, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The event will honor two of Boston’s most influential voices for young people: Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell and The 7uice Foundation, founded by Jaylen Brown and Mechalle Brown. 

Attorney General Campbell will receive the 2026 Leader of Change Award, recognizing an individual who is making a powerful impact in helping to create a more just and equitable Boston through critical and sustainable change. The 7uice Foundation will be honored with the inaugural Beloved Community Award
for its innovative work expanding opportunity for young people through education, technology, and community investment.

Together, these honorees represent a unique convergence of leadership across public service, professional sports, and grassroots community investment, a powerful reflection of Boston’s collective commitment to the next generation.

“Our young people are our next generation of leaders. As attorney general, and as the mom of two beautiful boys, I am fully committed to addressing the unprecedented challenges facing our youth and seeking out young voices to inform our work on issues that directly impact them,” said Attorney General Campbell. “I’m grateful to Trinity Boston Connects and The 7uice Foundation for their dedication to improving the lives of young people of color in Boston and beyond. Together we can create a more just, equitable future for every child.”

The gala’s theme, “Healing in Full Circle,” reflects the journey many young people experience through Trinity Boston Connects’ programs, beginning with belonging, deepening through connection and leadership, and returning as service to others. 

"At the 7uice Foundation, we believe that when young people are given access, support, and opportunity, they don’t just succeed, they lead,” said Mechalle Brown, President of the 7uice Foundation. “This recognition from Trinity Boston Connects reflects a shared commitment to building stronger, more equitable communities by investing in the brilliance and potential of our youth." 

The evening will unite leaders from across Boston’s civic, business, philanthropic, and nonprofit communities to celebrate the leaders and organizations helping shape a more just and hopeful future for Boston’s young people.

“To have Attorney General Campbell and the 7uice Foundation recognized together in the same evening speaks to the breadth of leadership required to support young people in our city,” said Charmane Higgins, Executive Director of Trinity Boston Connects. “From public leadership to community investment, their work reflects what is possible when people with influence use their platforms to create opportunity for the next generation.”

Leading the evening’s festivities is Paris Alston, host of Rooted at GBH News.

Now in its 19th year, the Bostonians for Youth Gala has become one of Boston’s signature gatherings focused on youth leadership and community healing. Proceeds from the event support Trinity Boston Connects’ youth programs, which provide leadership development, social-emotional learning, and community-building opportunities for young people across Boston.
