BOSTON – Registration is now open for Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger, the organization’s signature community fundraiser and one of Massachusetts’ most enduring anti-hunger events, turning compassion into action. Set for Sunday, May 3 on the Boston Common, the one-day celebration will bring together thousands of walkers for a family-friendly 3-mile loop featuring food, entertainment, and activities for all ages.
Now in its 58th year, the Walk for Hunger remains a beacon of hope for local families, raising $1 million to support Project Bread’s proven, statewide approach to advancing food security and ensuring access to nutritious food for children and families across Massachusetts.
Like-minded anti-hunger organizations are also invited to participate through Project Bread’s co-fundraising program, The Commonwealth. Participating nonprofits can form teams to raise funds for their own missions while contributing to Project Bread’s broader statewide impact.

About the teacher 
Gen Kelsang Khedrub is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Boston. He has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for over 30 years. He has taught extensively in Chicago, Seattle, and across the country, and is known for presenting meditation in a clear, practical, and accessible way.

It’s a night of whimsy with music inspired by games. In Mozart’s Musikalisches Würfelspiel, dice rolls from our audience will determine the structure of the piece! We’ll dust off our old, battery powered, primary colored Simon game to perform Nicole Lizée’s Simon Interlude and play selections from György Kurtág’s collection of Játékok or quite literally “games” in Hungarian. Satie’s humorous and eccentric pieces about sports were conceived for a “haute couture artist's book" while Mozart’s iconic Kegelstatt Trio was written while lawn bowling! Winsor is excited to welcome composer and soprano Kate Soper to perform her piece Chutes and Ladders, featuring text by Virgil, diary entries, Markov chains, and board game rules. The New Yorker describes Kate as "one of the great originals of her generation.”

The American Revolution has been contested since its very beginning. During the Revolution, contemporaries looking to understand what independence meant had to shift through disinformation and journalism rife with as many opinions as today. In the war's aftermath, narratives of the Revolution went through continuous reinterpretations in response to political and social changes. From the Civil War to the Cold War and newsrooms to Hollywood, Americans looked to the Revolutionary era to debate and define what it meant to be an American, with often divisive results. Now, during the 250th anniversary of the Revolution, Jordan Taylor and Michael Hattem will examine commentary in Revolutionary-era newspapers and broadsides, consider how understanding of American independence has changed over time, and reflect on how the public sees the nation’s founding today.

Many of us give only a moment’s thought about the environment when considering the War of Independence: the slope of Breed’s Hill, the ice-choked Delaware River, and diseases such as smallpox. But what might we gain by connecting biology, ecology, and geology to the thinking and actions of soldiers and civilians? Rebels and British soldiers acquired and used energy in the form of food, fuel, and work animals, which shaped people’s lives, the course of the war, and the direction of environmental change. Join us as David Hsiung, in conversation with Joyce Chaplin, discusses the intricate and often surprising ways in which the natural environment and the war changed each other.

 his peers draw on the past as they drafted the Declaration and crafted 
the Constitution? What ideas shaped the United States’ working 
definition of liberty, and how did that translate to audiences abroad?
