Cine-Club de l'Alliance: L'autre Dumas

A free screening of Safy Nebbou's L'Autre Dumas at The French Cultural Center, Tuesday January 20 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM. 53 Marlborough St.

For January’s Ciné-Club de l’Alliance, the French Cultural Center will present Safy Nebbou’s L’Autre Dumas.

L’Autre Dumas immerses viewers in the fascinating life of one of the most influential French writers of the 19th century, Alexandre Dumas, father of the Three Musketeers. This 2010 movie by Safy Nebbou explores the relationship between Dumas and his co-writer Auguste Maquet. Maquet has remained in the great man’s shadow and never challenged his supremacy. When a quarrel breaks out between the two men, a crucial question presents itself: what is the exact part each man has in the work’s success?

This 2010, 105-minute film will be presented in its original version, with English subtitles.
