Craft Chat with Vivian Beer

Join The Society of Arts and Crafts and furniture maker Vivian Beer for a discussion about her "Desert Impression" Series.

Saturday, October 17, 2015, The Society of Arts and Crafts Exhibition Gallery, 10:30-11:30 AM

Please join the Society of Arts and Crafts and New England furniture maker Vivian Beer for an engaging morning “Craft Chat,” where the artist will discuss the influences, inspiration, and process behind some of her latest work. This is our first of the “Craft Chats” series, which feature casual conversation with leaders in craft. Enjoy coffee and donuts while learning about Vivian’s Desert Design Lab Project and the resulting “Desert Impression” series, which incorporates the textures of the American desert landscape into her furniture. Vivian is one of seven artists featured in “Stay in Touch: Seven Years of the John D. Mineck Furniture Fellowship” on view through October 17. Free and open to the public; sponsored by Dunkin Donuts.

Vivian Beer combines her knowledge of materials and processes to create innovative pieces of contemporary furniture. Her work has been exhibited widely and can be found in prestigious collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, and the Brooklyn Museum. She received her MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Vivian works out of Manchester, New Hampshire.
