David Ryan Harris/Melissa Polinar

Singer-songwriter David Ryan Harris has been challenging mainstream notions of African American performers since fronting the Atlanta, Georgia–based rock group Follow for Now in the late ‘80s. His subsequent solo work has ranged from folk to R&B. Since releasing his eponymous debut album in 1997, Harris has released Soulstice (2003) and The Bittersweet (2006). He has also worked with several well-known artists including Dave Matthews, Cassandra Wilson, Derek Trucks, Carlos Santana, and Marc Broussard, among others, and counts Son House, Robert Johnson, Prince, Parliament/Funkadelic, and Stevie Wonder among his influences.

Based in North Texas, singer-songwriter Melissa Polinar began her musical journey on YouTube in 2008, where videos of her original music have received millions of hits to date. Her voice, musicianship, and songwriting got the attention of music industry veterans including Questlove, India.Arie, Jay Sean, Karmin, and Ernie Halter, to name a few. Polinar’s independently released full-length album, Calls & Echoes, was produced by David Ryan Harris (John Mayer, India.Arie, Guy Sebastian), Josiah Bell (Johnnyswim, Jaden Smith, Mat Kearney), and Jesse Barrera (Jeremy Passion, AJ Rafael, My American Heart). The album showcases her versatility, vulnerable vocals, and acoustic soul and folk sound.
