Back Bay Unplugged presents Classical Flamenco with Juan Perez Rodriguez & Friends

Rising pianist and composer Juan Perez Rodriguez and his trio bring the classical Flamenco sounds of Spain to the AIC Center. Considered a “living history” of Andalusia, the Flamenco style is passed from generation to generation, transmitting culture and identity through music. Rising pianist Juan Perez Rodriguez learned the art of Flamenco from his father, and now blends jazz, classical, and the art of improvisation to forge the next phase of Flamenco’s dynamic history.

A Berklee graduate, Rodriguez has collaborated with legendary Flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia, and recently performed at WBUR’s Spring Fest 2012 and the Zumix Summer Concert series, alongside some of Boston’s most beloved jazz, classical, and world music acts. Join us for an evening with Juan Perez Rodriguez & Friends, as this torch-bearer of the Flamenco tradition treats us to soundscapes that have been described as “passionate, nostalgic, and having a dynamic intensity similar to that of fire and water in nature.”
