The Boston Classical Guitar Society (BCGS) welcomes guitarists Jerome Mouffe and Grisha Goryachev for an evening of Spanish guitar music. Combining near-impossible virtuosity and passionate musicianship in both flamenco and classical styles, Grisha and Jerome perform music of Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albeniz, Paco de Lucia, and Vicente Amigo. The BCGS Boston Guitar Orchestra opens the evening with a prelude performance.
The recital begins at 7:30 pm at the First Lutheran Church of Boston, 299 Berkeley Street, in the Back Bay. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for students and seniors. Additional BCGS member discounts are available. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at http://www.itsmyseat.com/bcgs.html. A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Grisha Goryachev is renowned for his extraordinary musical sensitivity and technical virtuosity. Following his debut at the age of nine, Mr. Goryachev enjoyed an extensive career as a child prodigy, performing regularly before large audiences in prestigious concert halls. A protegé of the legendary Paco de Lucía, he was one of the 30 people in 2006 to become a fellow of the prestigious Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship, recognizing him as exceptional in his chosen field. Grisha is one of very few guitarists in the world who is reviving the tradition of solo flamenco guitar in a concert setting that was practiced by legendary flamenco masters such as Ramón Montoya and Sabicas.
